Compassionate counselling

Integrative counselling & psychotherapy
My counselling approach is integrative, meaning I draw from various therapeutic theories and ways of working.
This allows me to adapt our sessions to your individual needs and preferences so that the time we have together is used in the most effective way possible.

What to expect in a session
When you come to me for counselling, you can expect a warm, empathetic space where your whole self is welcome.
Whether a space to talk and be heard is the most important thing for you, or you're looking for some practical tools, I will tailor the sessions to your needs.
Exercises may centre around emotional grounding and regulation; processing and managing anger; supporting effective communication; working with negative automatic thoughts; practicing self-compassion or identifying underlying emotions.
I may invite you to keep a journal or do other written exercises outside of our sessions. If I offer an activity, you are free to take what is helpful and put aside anything that isn't.
You may have very specific goals which I will help you to breakdown into manageable steps and support you to reflect on your progress.

Some words from a client...
"Last year, I reached a stage in my life where I knew I needed support. I didn’t know exactly what I needed, but I knew something had to change. I’d heard that counselling can help some people, and I had already tried coping in my own ways talking to friends and family, and even referring myself for group therapy.
When I first spoke to Jenny on the phone, I didn’t have any expectations; I just knew I needed to try something to help me get to a healthier place.
At the time, I was dealing with the passing of my dad, trying to support my grieving mum, caring for a young family, and managing work-related stress. It all became too much, and I was really struggling.
From my very first face-to-face session with Jenny, I found myself opening up completely I didn’t stop talking or crying. She created a space where I felt able to talk through everything."
"I believe that you are the expert of your own experience, and as we work together, I will support you to use that experience, along with self-knowledge, acceptance and compassion, to go out and face each day with hope."
