Fees and what to expect

Therapy is an investment in yourself, but I never want cost to be a barrier to getting the help you need and deserve.

I retain a limited number of reduced-fee appointments for those that need it.

If the below costs are prohibitive, please let me know when you get in touch.

Your first session and beyond

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, knowing what to expect can help to calm the fear of the unknown.

The initial call

When you email to enquire about therapy, I will invite you to have a free initial call.

This usually lasts around 15 minutes, and is an opportunity for you to tell me a little about what you are looking for help with and ask me any questions.

What to expect during your first session

Firstly, a cup of tea or coffee (herbal teas and water also available) and a moment to arrive and settle!

During our initial meeting, I will ask some questions to gain a better understanding of your life experiences and what has led you to seek therapy.

We will discuss the frequency and number of sessions that feel right for you and what you want to get out of therapy. For longer-term work, we'll review this every 6 to 8 weeks to ensure therapy remains helpful.

We will also explore your aims for therapy. Don't worry if you're not entirely sure what your goals are; we can work together to clarify what you hope to gain from our sessions.

A tailored approach to therapy

I work with you to ensure therapy genuinely works for you.

I understand that what is effective for one person may not be for another, so our sessions will always be tailored  to you and your unique needs.

My goal is to create a supportive environment where we can collaboratively work through what's brought you to therapy.

How many sessions will I need?

This will vary depending on what you'd like to work on and how you want to work.

I would normally consider short-term work to be six to eight sessions. Shorter-term therapy works well where there is a specific issue that you want to work through and you know what your goals are.

Longer-term therapy can be anything up to 18 months and beyond. This tends to be for deep-seated issues that require the space for careful reflection and gentle exploration.

Longer-term work may begin as weekly and move towards fortnightly and eventually monthly sessions to support maintenance.

I work flexibly to make sure that the process works for you.

Payments and cancellations

To secure your appointment, I request that you make payment 48 hours before the session.

Payment method

Payments are usually via bank transfer.

If this presents any difficulties, let me know so that we can make alternate arrangements.

Cancellation and rescheduling

If you need to change your appointment, please let me know as soon as possible. Cancellations made within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment will be charged at half the session price.
